Getting the most of your kids photo session.
What do you want to remember when you look back on your kids’ photos?
I see these images and they are so true to who my baby is today, which might totally change tomorrow: curious, silly, energetic, happy, easily amazed…
Sure, we all love a good “looking at the camera” portrait. But make sure you don't get so caught up in wanting the perfect picture that they get stripped from that unique personality that you so much cherish.
For our sessions I always encourage parents to embrace the “chaos”.
Nothing kills a kids “vibe” more that a family member saying NO! to everything they are naturally inclined to do, (run around, throw rocks, jump). They will feel like they are doing something wrong and that can potentially make them close up and then we miss out on genuine memories. A kid looking at a camera forcing a smile when they really want to cry is never the result you’re looking for.
On the other hand, if we let them play around and let their personalities unfold, we're always sure to capture some real moments that will be a gift to look back on for years to come.
